Zay LopezDJ Kool Zay’s experience includes Navy & Marine Corps Balls, weddings, major events, and game days, demonstrating his versatility across diverse crowds. "I originally came to Oceanside with the U.S. Navy as a cardiopulmonary technologist, working at the local medical center." Zay represents community pride and connection. As a local talent from Brooklyn, Zay came to the community over 40 years ago. "I went from the streets of Brooklyn collaborating with early Hip Hop pioneers, to serving this country in the U.S. Navy, and Oceanside became my home. Music has always been my heartbeat — and now I get to pour every bit of that journey, that pride, and that passion into the Bombers. Ozzy Nunez"I have built a career in strategic partnerships, business growth, and sales in technology sectors like cloud computing, cybersecurity, and enterprise software. Recently, I was CRO at CloudIT, launching revenue initiatives and new products to boost market share. I participate in the San Diego CFO Leadership Council, helping businesses adopt new technologies and improve digital transformation. I enjoy spending time with my family and aim to contribute by building alliances to support the Bombers. Coach White emphasizes fundamentals, relentless pursuit, and consistent execution—turning preparation into confident, fast play on game day. He coaches with a focus on communication at every level, helping players understand not only their responsibilities but also how each assignment connects to the defense as a whole. Coach White's goal is to build a unit that plays physical, stays composed under pressure, and competes together from the first snap to the final whistle. Jerry Garrett

Assistant Coach - Wide Receivers Coach
Jerry Garrett

Jerry Garrett is a hometown hero in Oceanside with a storied career both on and off the field. He first made a name for himself as a standout player at Oceanside High School before becoming a JC Grid-Wire All-American at Palomar College, where he was a key two-way star for their 1991 National Championship team. His playing career also included stints in Italy and at Wayne State (Nebraska), where he earned NCAA Division II All-American honors. Before joining the Bombers, Garrett built his coaching resume as an assistant at Carlsbad High School and through various youth coaching roles. In his new position with the Oceanside Bombers, he is tasked with refining the technical skills, route-running, and game-day strategies of the receiving corps, leveraging his semi-professional background to bridge the gap for players with professional aspirations. James Kilmer

Assistant Coach - Offensive Line Coach
James Killmer

Coach Kilmer is a familiar face in professional indoor football, most recently serving as the Offensive Line Coach for the San Diego Strike Force in the Indoor Football League (IFL). His expertise in the unique demands of indoor football began much earlier, when he served as an assistant coach for the San Diego Riptide of the AF2 from 2002 to 2005. Deeply rooted in the local community, Kilmer has a long history of developing talent across San Diego’s educational institutions. Collegiate Level: He previously served as the running backs coach at San Diego Mesa College, bringing a comprehensive understanding of backfield and line synchronization. High School Programs: Throughout his career, Kilmer has been a fixture on San Diego sidelines, contributing to the growth of local student-athletes and high school programs across the county. "I am fired up to join the Oceanside Bombers and get to work with this group. My coaching philosophy has always been built on the blue-collar grit of San Diego football—playing fast, staying disciplined, and winning the battle in the trenches. Dean McCown, Sr.

Dean McCown, Sr.

A veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a dedicated educator, Dean McCown Sr. brings a unique blend of military discipline and academic mentorship to the Oceanside Bombers. Serving as a former Gunnery Sergeant and recipient of the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Dean's transition into coaching is fueled by a mission to develop "well-rounded athletes" who excel both on the field and in the classroom. Based in the Camp Pendleton and Fallbrook area, Dean balances his roles as a Special Education Teacher and Campus Supervisor with his passion for high school and youth football. His coaching philosophy centers on character development, leveraging his years of service to teach local athletes the importance of resilience, teamwork, and "handling your business" at home and in school.
